I am pleased to learn that Embassy of the People's Republic of China
in Nepal and World Cultural Net are going to organize China Festival in
Kathmandu from 1 to 7 September 2003 to mark the 48th anniversary of the
establishment of diplomatic relations between Nepal and the People's Republic
of China. I believe that such activities contribute to further consolidating
the warm and cordial relations existing between our two countries.
It needs no reiteration here that Nepal and the People's Republic of
China enjoy good neighborly relations marked by friendship, understanding
and cooperation. The People's Republic of China is one of the most important
partners in Nepal's development activities, and has considerably contributed
to the socioeconomic development of Nepal. Our two governments have also
cooperated in many international issues. I am happy to note here that
our historical relations have reached new heights after the establishment
of diplomatic relations in 1955. I am confident that these relations would
be further expanded and consolidated in the years to come.
Finally, I thank the Embassy of the People's Republic of China in Nepal
and World Cultural Net for organizing this festival, and wish them all
success.
Surya Bahadur Thapa
Prime Minister of Nepal
