Chinese People Express Deep Concern over the War against Iraq

Chinese people nation-wide still hope for a peaceful solution to the Iraqi crisis to avoid the loss of innocent lives.

Although the US-led war against Iraq has already broken out, Chinese people nation-wide still hope for a peaceful solution to the Iraqi crisis to avoid the loss of innocent lives.

Residents in Beijing are generally worried about the war, fearing the US bombing of Baghdad will kill innocent civilians as well as affect the world energy supply. They hope the war will come to an end as soon as possible.

In the south China city of Guangzhou, faculties and students, including overseas students, in local universities share the view that the war will negatively influence the world order.

A vice Chairman of the Tibetan Autonomous Regional Political Consultative Conference says it is unwise to solve problems by war. The Iraq issue should be solved with the active participation of the United Nations, not by the unauthorized use of force.
