Transmission Building Handed over to NTV

The transmission building constructed for the Metro Channel of Nepal Television (NTV) under the grant assistance of the People’s Republic of China was handed over to NTV today.

Ambassador of People’s Republic of China Wu Congyong and Secretary at the Ministry of Information and Communication Mukunda Sharma Poudel signed the documents in this regard on behalf of the government of China and government of Nepal respectively amid a programme.

The building, constructed under the NTV improvement and development project, is situated in the premises of NTV, Singhadurbar covering an area of 3876 square metres.

It was constructed at a total cost of Rs 520 millions by the Chinese construction company in a duration of 15 months.

Speaking on the occasion Minister for Information and Communication Kamal Thapa said the construction of the building was a symbol of friendship between the Chinese people and the Nepalese people, which would for sure further promote the development of friendly relationship between the two countries.

Mentioning that the assistance of Chinese government in the modernisation and development of the Kingdom of Nepal is of paramount importance, Minister Thapa said the two countries have been the intimate neighbours for long irrespective to the changes in governments or political systems.

Stating that the Chinese government has been assisting in the construction of roads, hospitals, and other development infrastructures in Nepal as an intimate neighbour, Chinese Ambassador Wu Congyong said that the construction of the transmission building would play an important role in the development of information and communication in Nepal.

Secretary at the Ministry Mukunda Sharma Poudel expressing sincere thanks to the Chinese government for the assistance said the construction of the metro building would bring professionalism in the field of communication and provide additional opportunity to inform the Nepali people.

Chairman of NTV Mukunda Acharya said preparations will be made soon for starting the transmission of Metro Channel.

General-manager of NTV Tapa Nath Shukla informed that the building consists of two larger studios, two master control rooms and sound dubbing system rooms, which are equipped with modern facilities and instruments.

Cast-in-situs reinforced concrete frame construction is adopted for the main building which has a resistance to earthquake up to 9 rhictar scale, he informed.
