On the occasion of the International Working Women’s Day, a reception was held by Mrs. Wang Lanping, wife of the Chinese Ambassador to Nepal, on March 9, 2004 in Kathmandu.

In her address, Mrs. Wang briefed the general situation of the development of women’s cause in China, she said that the Chinese Government attaches great importance to the progress and development of Chinese women and makes equality of the sexes as one of basic national policies to accelerate the development of the nation and society. She stressed that together with all the international forces devoting to the progress and liberation of women, China would like to make more contributions to the development of the international women's cause. >> Full Text

Women diplomats and wives of the diplomats of the Chinese Embassy along with women representatives of the Chinese companies in Nepal performed a fashion show as well as other cultural programs on the occasion.

Wife of the Nepali Foreign Minister and wives of other cabinet ministers of HMG of Nepal, wife of the Chief of the Army Staff, women ambassadors and wives of ambassadors to Nepal, women representatives from different circles of Nepal were present at the reception.
