Tibetan Troupers Stage Art Show in Kathmandu

KATHMANDU , Oct. 4 : An art performance troupe from China 's Tibet Autonomous Region staged an excellent show here on Monday evening to celebrate China 's 55th national day together with the Nepalese people. A total of 26 performers from the Ethnic Art Performance Troupe of Lhasa Municipality displayed their perfect songs and dances at the show organized by the Chinese Embassy to Nepal at Birendra International Convention Center (BICC) in Kathmandu . As many as 500 guests, including Nepali Crown Prince Paras, Crown Princess Himani and Parasu Narayan Chaudhary, chairman of the Raj Parishad, watched the show, the first by the troupe in Nepal . The performers played a male quartet "Pretty Lhasa Girls," which is also quite popular in Nepal and a group dance "Sherpa's Spring," a typical ethnic dance of Nepalese Sherpas. "We come here to showcase the prosperous vision of our motherland and the Tibetan people's happy life in the Chinese people's kinship family," Kelsang Namgyal, leader of the troupe told Xinhua. There will be over 1,000 Nepalese friends coming to watch the troupe's open performance at the same place on Tuesday, Namgyal said. "We also bring more than 50 kinds of books written in English, Chinese and Tibetan languages to introduce the history and culture in China 's Tibet and the happy life of the Tibetan people," Namgyal added.
